GOESS AND TEAM LEARN A LOT IN GREENVILLE OPENER
Roadblocks Don't Block Learning in Camping World East Opener

As they say, practice makes perfect, and Craig Goess and the ESR Team learned that during their first Camping World East Series race at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina.  The team tested for the race, but sometimes testing doesn’t quite prepare you for all of the roadblocks ahead. Those roadblocks created some tough times for Goess and the Greenville Toyota team at Greenville. While they may have only posted a 27th place finish, the team left with a lot of knowledge and experience for the road ahead.
“We were 7th fastest in practice,” said Goess. “The car wasn’t turning good though. So we made a lot of changes to it before qualifying and ended up 26th.”

”We started towards the back and on lap-21 some cars got crossed up in front of me and there was nowhere to go. We got our nose into it and had to come in to pit to make repairs. That put us 5-laps down.

“Since we knew we couldn’t contend for a win, we turned the rest of the race into a big test session. Every time the caution came out we came in to pit and made adjustments. The car was better in the last-50 laps than it had been the entire time there. We learned a lot of things and everyone worked real well together. I am really looking forward to Iowa next. We tested there a while back I think we will have a good car.”

The next stop for Craig and the NASCAR Camping World East Series is Iowa on May 13th.
